Constable and Gainsborough Country
Wednesday 29th May 2019
A fine new scenic guided tour exploring the places which inspired two of Britain’s finest painters – John Constable with his landscapes and Thomas Gainsborough with his portraits. Discover some of the scenery and prettiest villages in Suffolk and North East Essex as we take a gentle drive along the idyllic Stour Valley. Following a coffee halt at Poplars Garden Centre at Marks Tey we head along the Colne Valley to Sudbury – Gainsborough’s birthplace for a lunch halt (lunch not included). Our afternoon tour features Constables birthplace East Bergholt where we visit the church with its famous detached belfry. There will be time to take a stroll to see Flatford Mill and the Haywain painting location before concluding the day with a delicious cream tea (included) at the Essex Rose tearooms in picturesque Dedham.
