ADOPT A GREYHOUND – FROM THE BACK OF A BUS!
A charity is hoping the back of a bus will help them find homes for retired greyhounds.
The Sittingbourne Retired Greyhound Trust has chosen Chalkwell to spread their adoption message across the region.
Ten Chalkwell buses will carry advertisements on the back – and the inside – of vehicles for an initial eight week campaign starting on September 1.
The Sittingbourne Retired Greyhound Trust home the greyhounds that have retired from racing at the Central Park Stadium in Sittingbourne which is only a dog track away from Chalkwell’s depot.
“We have room for up to 20 greyhounds at any one time awaiting adoption and
since the Sittingbourne branch was set up in 2006 we have found homes for around 500 greyhounds,” said Bill Buckley, chairman of the Sittingbourne branch of the trust.
“As our advertising campaign message states, ‘Greyhounds Make Great Pets’.
“We were looking for other ways to promote greyhounds as pets and as Chalkwell buses have a very good presence in the local area we believe this will help us to get the message to the public in a very effective way as well as supporting a local business.”
Said Karen Lockyer, Chalkwell Coach Hire & Tour Sales Manager: “I am sure we have many customers and staff who are dog lovers and they may well consider adopting a greyhound which is a very popular breed.
“It’s good that local businesses are working together and we wish the greyhound adoption campaign every success.”
