Chalkwell sign up for busforus
We have signed up to BUSFORUS to ensure students can access all the local information they need to plan and make bus journeys.
BUSFORUS provides simple, quick and easy access to information on bus stops, services, departures/arrivals, bus operators and route maps.
It is accessible by smartphone, tablet devices and pc’s and uses electronic maps and GPS technologies to locate users and match them with their nearest services.
The site, which is funded by the UK bus industry and managed by the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT), the trade association representing Britain’s bus and coach operators, is free for all to use and is not for profit.
The CPT says it is a true one-stop-shop of information, removing the need for paper timetables and bus stop signage, and adds that it is set to revolutionise the way young people plan bus journeys.
BUSFORUS has received extensive Government support since being launched last September by then Transport Minister, Norman Baker, and the site's champion, youth campaigner and actress Brooke Kinsella MBE.
Mr. Baker said at the time: “I am pleased the Confederation of Passenger Transport and its members have responded so positively to my recent concerns about access to information on buses and bus travel for young people.
“Buses play an important role in both boosting economic growth by helping people get to job interviews and get into work and cutting carbon. The enhanced features of BUSFORUS will make it easier to plan journeys and access information on bus travel and that is great news for passengers.”
Welcoming Chalkwell to the BUSFORUS site, CPT’s Head of Communications Christopher Nice said:
“We are delighted that Chalkwell has joined BUSFORUS. The site provides detailed timetable, route and operator information for all registered UK bus services, and now has in excess of 93% of the industry actively taking part.”
