Offer of Free Travel on Taster Days

Primary schoolchildren in Kent are being offered free bus travel on taster days between now and the end of July.

For on the days that primary schoolchildren visit secondary schools they can take advantage of the Chalkwell offer.

This applies to primary schoolchildren on the Isle of Sheppey as well as pupils from villages surrounding Sittingbourne,” said Chalkwell Commercial Director Roland Eglinton.

We will carry these children on our buses for free provided they are wearing their school uniform. All they need to do is turn up at the bus stop and they will be allowed to travel.”

Representatives of Chalkwell, including Roland, are attending school open evenings and speaking to teachers and parents.

There are a number of taster days before the end of term as parents and children plan for the move up to secondary school in September.

Travelling by bus is a great way for children to get to school, but it can be daunting to some, especially in September at the same time as they start their new schools.

We aim to make this important step as easy as possible for children and parents alike,” he added.
