Thank you from the Postie

Retired postman John Knott has written to thank Chalkwell for their first detailed tour of the World War 1 battlefields which marked the 100th anniversary.

Mr. Knott, 71, of Lower Halstow, near Sittingbourne, who was a postman in Victoria, London, for 30 years, made the trip to Ypres with his son Christopher and said they had ‘really enjoyed it.’

“We found it very informative and most moving,” said Mr. Knott who was able to visit the grave of his grandfather as part of the trip.

“The battlefields tour with a most knowledgeable guide was an excellent day out and one we shall remember for a long time to come.”

He praised the guide, Chris Church, an infantry captain, who chose the itinerary to suit the needs of the full coach.

He said he had written a ‘thank you’ to Chalkwell because ‘people are so quick to have a moan at stupid things and praise is so shortcoming.”

Said Karen Lockyer, Chalkwell Coach Hire & Tour Sales Manager:  “This is the first time Chalkwell have done such a comprehensive guided trip to Ypres and I am so pleased that you both enjoyed the day.”

It was the second time in three months that John had toured with Chalkwell.  He and his wife Linda enjoyed a five day break in Staffordshire.
